To many people who have been on various forums its second nature to start threads and post messages, but we all started at some time and if you are new to forums the layout is quite 'busy' and a bit comfusing. Here is a quick, simple guide to starting your own thread and to adding a message (post) to a running thread.

Just for clarity ...

Thread = A number of posts (messages). By adding the first post (message) you are starting a new thread.

Post = One message.

------------------

Go to the section you want to post in. (Let's assume this will be 'Say Hello here!' section to say hello).

Click on "NEW TOPIC" which is to the left of your screen.

Type something to describe your thread in the "Subject" space at the top of the window.
Add further detail in 'Topic Description' if you want to. (This is not compulsory)

Type your message in the big box. Use small text (not CAPS lock as this is harder to read and is percieved as SHOUTING!) Click on any of the smilies in the box on the Right to add them into your message if you want to.

Once done, scroll down and press "Send" or "Preview" buttons at the bottom' and your thread will be posted. You can preview and edit your post first before posting if you want to.

People can then add posts to your thread.

------------------

To add a reply (post) to someone elses thread - at the end of the thread there are three buttons on the Top right ....
...."New Topic".......and "Post Reply"

Click on "Add reply" and you will see the same layout as described ^^ above. Just type your message in and then scroll down and click "Add reply". (It changes from 'Post New Topic' as you are not posting a topic this time, just adding a reply).

Once you get a little more familiar with the forum software you can reply by quoting other posters messages, add pictures and change the colour of text amongst all sorts of things. I wont complicate things by going into how to do those, but its easy once you get used to posting. There is plenty of information on the forum to help you, and if you ask anyone will be happy to help.

If you get five posts in the main sections then other parts of the forum open up to you as does the private message function.
